Suspension: PDP tells Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to resume at Senate
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, to prepare to resume her legislative duties at the National Assembly.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party criticized the move by the Clerk of the National Assembly to block the senator from returning to her seat after serving a six-month suspension imposed by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The PDP alleged that the action was a deliberate ploy by the Akpabio-led All Progressives Congress (APC) Senate leadership to silence the people of Kogi Central and deprive them of representation in the Red Chamber.
“The PDP calls on the international community, democracy institutions, right advocacy groups and other democracy development partners to rise up in condemnation of this renewed attack on Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The PDP demands that the Senate leadership ensures that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan is allowed to resume her duties and perform her roles as an elected Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria unhindered,” the statement added.
