Why I visited Tinubu in Aso Rock – Fubara
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has disclosed that his recent visit to President Bola Tinubu was aimed at formally notifying him of his return to office following the lifting of his suspension.
The governor, reinstated after six months under emergency rule in Rivers State, was received at the State House on Monday evening.
Speaking to journalists after the closed-door meeting, Fubara described the encounter with the president as a “father-and-son discussion” focused on ensuring stability in the state.
He explained that he sought the president’s guidance on key issues to prevent a recurrence of past crises.
“You know the suspension was lifted at midnight on the 17th, and I resumed on the 19th. I came to inform Mr. President that I’m back and fully resumed my duties as Governor of Rivers State,” Fubara said.
He added, “It was a father-and-son conversation where I expressed my gratitude and sought his counsel on areas where his guidance will help us avoid another crisis.”
