Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised three suicide bombers and overpowered their armed escorts during a security operation along the Guduf–Pulka axis in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, North-East Operation Hadin Kai.

According to the statement, the suicide bombers were mobilised from the Mandara Mountains by fighters loyal to the Ali Ngulde–led faction of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad, a Boko Haram splinter group.

The operation, described as deliberate and intelligence-led, was carried out in collaboration with local volunteer groups. The troops tracked and eliminated the bombers before they could execute attacks on civilian targets.

The military added that the escorts accompanying the bombers also suffered significant casualties, while the remaining terrorists retreated into the Mandara highlands following sustained troop pressure.

During exploitation of the scene, troops recovered four AK-47 rifles abandoned by fleeing insurgents, while two motorcycles used by the terrorists were destroyed.

Operation Hadin Kai said its forces have intensified surveillance and offensive operations in the area, relying on human intelligence, communication intercepts and other monitoring capabilities to detect and neutralise suicide bombers and hostile elements operating from the enclave.
