Troops arrest suspected terrorist logistics supplier in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a 20-year-old man suspected of providing logistical support to terrorists in Borno State.

The suspect, identified as Mohammed Alhaji, was apprehended around 9:30am on August 23, 2026, during a checkpoint operation at Mandaragirau.

A military source told Zagazola Makama that the arrest followed intelligence reports concerning suspected suppliers and sympathisers operating in the area.

Preliminary findings indicated that Alhaji allegedly used a cargo motorcycle, with registration number BBU-514VC, to transport supplies to terrorist fighters and evacuate wounded members of the group.

The suspect was also reportedly linked to support activities connected to a recent attack on troops.

Following his arrest, Alhaji was handed over to the Army Provost Group for further investigation and appropriate action. The motorcycle was taken into custody by the 162 Amphibious Battalion.

The military said the arrest formed part of ongoing efforts to disrupt the logistics and support networks that enable terrorist groups to operate in the North-East.

It added that the security situation in the area remained calm but unpredictable, while troops continued to maintain high morale and operational effectiveness.
