Enone 2027: “God is redirecting me” – Williams Obande Obeya withdraws from contest
Chief Dr Williams Obande has withdrawn from the race for the House of Representatives seat in Enone, barely hours before the party primaries.
Obande announced his withdrawal in a statement issued on Friday night after what he described as deep reflection, sincere prayers, and wide consultations.
The politician said he would no longer participate in the party primaries scheduled for Saturday, noting that the decision came after further consultations following his declaration earlier in the day at Ogbadibo.
According to him, the journey had been emotional and enlightening, bringing him closer to the people and strengthening his desire to serve.
He, however, lamented that the ambition had taken valuable time away from his family, including his wife and children.
Quoting Ecclesiastes 3:1 and Proverbs 19:21, Obande said he believes there is a time for everything and that God’s purpose ultimately prevails over human plans.
The former aspirant also alleged that the forthcoming primary election appeared to be a predetermined process, but stressed that he was leaving the race with dignity and without bitterness.
“I will walk away with my head held high, knowing I came with sincerity, love, and genuine commitment to Enone,” he stated.
Obande thanked his supporters, friends, and family for standing by him throughout the political journey, describing their support as overwhelming and encouraging.
He urged them to trust his decision, insisting that it was made in his best interest, for the sake of his family, and for the preservation of his dignity and peace of mind.
Despite stepping down from the race, Obande reaffirmed his commitment to the unity, progress, and future of Enone, adding that he would continue to contribute to the political development of the area as a “kingmaker.”
He expressed confidence that God was redirecting him to another form of service that would still enable him to help shape the leadership that would represent the people in the general election.
