Och’Idoma, Sonny Echono, Godwin Obla to headline Idoma Centenary Celebration

The Och’Idoma and Chairman of the Idoma Area Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty, Pst. Elaigwu Odogbo Obagaji John, alongside Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Dr. Sonny Echono, and senior lawyer, Chief Godwin Obla, SAN, are among prominent personalities expected to headline the forthcoming Idoma Centenary Lecture in Otukpo, Benue State.

The event, organised by the Board of Trustees of Idoma Centenary Plus, is scheduled to hold on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Ochacho Main Auditorium in GRA, Otukpo.

According to the organisers, the lecture is themed, “A People, Their Professions and Their Politics,” with a focus on conversations surrounding the identity, development, and political future of the Idoma people.

The centenary event is expected to bring together traditional rulers, political leaders, professionals, academics, and stakeholders from across the country to reflect on the journey of the Idoma nation and discuss pathways for future growth.

Other dignitaries expected at the event include Chief Dr. Mike Omeri as Special Guest of Honour, Dr. Ene Eriye as Distinguished Mother of the Day, and Dr. Abel Edeh, MFR, as Distinguished Chairman.

Speaking on the significance of the event, the organisers described the lecture as “a century of choices and a conversation that cannot wait,” noting that the gathering would provide an opportunity for critical discussions on leadership, unity, and development within the Idoma community.
