Troops rescue six kidnap victims after gun battle in Kebbi
Six kidnapped victims have been rescued by troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, following an encounter with suspected terrorists in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The victims were recovered on September 2, 2026, after security operatives received credible intelligence about suspected terrorist activities around Mehinua Village, along the Wasagu-Ayu Road.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, troops immediately moved into the area upon receiving the intelligence.
Danja said the troops engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, compelling them to retreat and abandon the kidnapped victims.
He added that all six victims were rescued unharmed, while the vehicle used in connection with the incident was also recovered.
The victims and the recovered vehicle were subsequently handed over to relevant community authorities for further necessary action, the statement said.
