1. Osun APC Denies Challenging Adeleke’s Victory at Tribunal

The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council has denied reports that the party and its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, filed a petition challenging Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

The clarification followed the display of two petitions at the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Osogbo, one of which was reportedly linked to Oyebamiji.

However, the council’s Head of Media and Publicity, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, said neither the APC, its campaign council nor Oyebamiji instituted the petition, describing the report as false and mischievous.

2. Presidency: Tinubu Never Promised Nigerians an Eldorado in Three Years

President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, has rejected criticism of the administration’s performance, saying the President never promised to transform Nigeria into a perfect country within three years.

Dare argued that Nigeria’s numerous challenges cannot be resolved within a single term and insisted that development is a gradual process.

He also criticised opposition parties for attacking Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda without presenting what he described as credible alternative plans.

3. El-Rufai’s Family Gives Defence Minister Seven Days to Prove Killing Allegation

The family of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has given Defence Minister Christopher Musa seven days to provide evidence supporting his allegation that the former governor planned killings in Southern Kaduna or publicly withdraw the claim.

The ultimatum followed comments made by Musa during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on September 3.

El-Rufai, who is also a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has been in detention for more than 200 days over allegations including financial misconduct and unlawful interception of telephone communications involving National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

4. Obi Says He Will Work With Any Candidate Who Wins Free, Fair Election

The presidential candidate of the New Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has said he is prepared to work with any candidate who emerges victorious in a free and fair election in order to prevent Nigeria from sliding into further crisis.

Obi made the remarks while attending the inauguration of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s second-term projects, explaining that his presence was to demonstrate solidarity and support.

He also called for unity among Nigerian politicians, saying he is not interested in politics driven by disagreement.

5. FG Clarifies Passport Charges for Nigerians in UK

The Federal Government has clarified that Nigerians in the United Kingdom participating in the ongoing special passport intervention will not be subjected to additional government charges.

The Ministry of Interior said applicants are only expected to pay the approved passport fees of $150 for a five-year passport and $230 for a 10-year passport, excluding bank charges.

The government also acknowledged complaints from Nigerians in the UK concerning difficulties encountered during the passport application and processing exercise.

6. Chidi Odinkalu Questions Tinubu’s Educational Background

Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s educational history, describing the President as a mystery to Nigerians.

Speaking in an interview with media personality Rudolf Okonkwo, Odinkalu claimed that Tinubu’s educational background remains difficult to trace compared with those of other Nigerian leaders.

He also made several critical remarks about the President, including the claim that Tinubu is a “total mischief.”

The actress was reportedly preparing to celebrate the completion of the house with relatives, friends and colleagues before her death.

9. D’Tigress Suffer Heavy Defeat to France at 2026 World Cup

Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, ended their 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup campaign with a heavy 111-56 defeat to France in their final Group B match in Berlin, Germany.

The loss was Nigeria’s third consecutive defeat at the tournament after earlier losses to South Korea and Hungary.

France dominated from the opening quarter and led 65-26 at half-time before extending the advantage in the second half. France also made 22 three-pointers, setting a new World Cup record.

The result confirmed D’Tigress’ elimination from the competition.

10. Falconets Face Must-Win China Clash After Spain Defeat

Nigeria’s Falconets have been handed a difficult task in the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after losing 2-0 to Spain in their opening Group F fixture in Poland.

Marisa García opened the scoring for Spain in the 13th minute before Alba Cerrato doubled the lead in the 73rd minute.
