I feel for Tinubu — Rufai Oseni reacts to president’s Kaduna speech

Arise Television Morning Show presenter Rufai Oseni has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s speech at the All Progressives Congress APC campaign rally in Kaduna State, blaming the president’s aides for failing to prepare him adequately.

Oseni described the speech as one of the worst campaign addresses he had heard, arguing that Tinubu’s team missed an opportunity to defend the administration’s policies and explain its achievements ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday, the broadcaster said the president should have avoided campaigning in Kaduna if he could not deliver a well-prepared address.

“I think that was the worst campaign speech I have ever heard from President Tinubu. It would have been better for him not to campaign in Kaduna than to deliver something so terrible to both the eyes and ears,” Oseni said.

He questioned why the president’s campaign council failed to prepare a concise speech highlighting the administration’s achievements and explaining its policies to Nigerians after nearly four years in office.

According to Oseni, Tinubu’s aides should have prepared a five-minute address that clearly outlined the government’s record and defended its decisions.

He also accused the campaign team of allowing the president to deliver a speech he considered disjointed and poorly coordinated at a crucial stage of his re-election bid.

“What is wrong with you people? Are you only interested in collecting money from him?” Oseni asked.

The presenter further faulted Tinubu’s comments on petrol subsidy removal and his attempt to blame the opposition for the poverty and hunger affecting Nigerians.

He argued that the speech lacked structure, coherence and a clear message, adding that the president needed a stronger defence of his administration’s policies.

Oseni also questioned why Tinubu’s aides allowed him to speak without adequate preparation when the campaign provided an opportunity to address public concerns about his government’s performance.

“I feel for President Tinubu this morning,” he added.
