2027: ADC, NDC cannot defeat APC with press conferences — Sambo
Sambo gave the warning on Arise TV’s Morning Show on Monday while assessing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said the African Democratic Congress ADC and the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC had yet to demonstrate sufficient commitment to challenging the APC through effective mobilisation at the grassroots.
According to him, President Bola Tinubu and the APC have already begun preparations for the election, with the president launching his re-election campaign in Kaduna State while opposition parties continue to issue statements from Abuja.
“You cannot defeat the APC with press statements alone. Opposition parties must take proactive steps and reach voters at the grassroots,” Sambo said.
He stressed that Nigerians needed to see opposition leaders engaging directly with citizens in their villages, wards and local government areas rather than limiting their activities to television appearances and press conferences.
Sambo also urged the ADC and NDC to demonstrate unity, build strong political structures and present Nigerians with a clear alternative to the APC-led government.
He warned that opposition parties could struggle to dislodge Tinubu in 2027 if they failed to establish a strong presence across the country.
The political editor further advised opposition leaders to learn from the APC’s early mobilisation efforts and campaign rallies, stressing that effective grassroots engagement would be crucial to their electoral chances.
