Innocent Ujah: Benue APC rejects Idoma man as Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo

The All Progressive Congress (APC) Supporters in Benue South Senatorial District has rejected the appointment of Prof. Innocent Ujah, a former Director-General of Nigeria Institute of Medical Research as the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo.

Speaking through its Chairman, Anthony Ogwuche, the groups said Ujah was being sponsored for the position by a former Senate President, David Mark and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Benue State.

They said the candidate was also been sponsored by a serving Permanent Secretary at the federal level.

The forum said the candidate is among those sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016 for mismanagement of funds while he held sway as Director General, NIMR.

President Buhari approved the establishment of the Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo in February, 2020.

The statement said APC members in the senatorial district and APC in Benue State are already weakened by the planned appointment as it has boosted the morale of the PDP in Benue South, who are already in jubilation with the perceived appointment of Its Chieftain, who is a medical doctor and a gynaecology professor, at the University of Jos.

The Forum further said that the envisaged appointment has been confirmed by a Senior member of the PDP, Hon Adoyi Onah who who claimed they are happy as a Party because the bill for the university was sponsored by the former Senate President.

Ogwuche said the appointment was also confirmed by member of the Idoma medical doctors.

“However, the All Progressives Congress in Benue State is warming up with a protest if the Federal Government goes ahead with appointment.

“Gone are the days when monkey the work, Baboon the chop,” the statement added.
