2027: APGA explains why it has no presidential candidate, endorses Tinubu

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu as its preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, said the absence of an APGA presidential candidate on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal should not be interpreted as non-compliance with electoral guidelines.

According to Opara, the party’s leadership reached the decision to support Tinubu’s re-election bid after extensive internal consultations.

He explained that the resolution was adopted by APGA’s National Executive Committee (NEC), which concluded that backing the president for a second term was in the country’s overall interest.

Opara stressed that APGA remains fully engaged in the electoral process despite opting not to field a presidential candidate.

He added that the party has completed the submission of candidates for other elective positions, including the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly, with their names already uploaded to the INEC portal.

“We have not uploaded a presidential candidate because the National Executive Committee of the party has already taken a decision to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027,” Opara said.
