Armed herdsmen raided the community, resulting in the tragic deaths of 16 villagers. Governor Alia expressed determination to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the violence.

4. Operation Whirl Stroke Takes Action Against Herders and Extremists

Responding to continued violence in Benue state, troops of Operation Whirl Stroke engaged in heavy gunfights with armed herders and violent extremists across four local government areas. A total of 40 armed herders, extremists, and insurgents were neutralized in Apo, Katsina Ala, Ukum, and Ado local government areas.

5. Herdsmen Attack Claims Lives in Wa-ndoo Community

Suspected armed herdsmen launched a deadly assault on Wa-ndoo community in Mbalom council ward of Gwer-East local government area, resulting in the tragic death of 16 farmers. The attackers, armed with guns and machetes, reportedly carried out the attack at around 7 p.m., leaving several others injured.

Governor Hyacinth Alia has approved the confirmation of Mrs. Theresa Nyitse as the substantive Accountant General of Benue state. The announcement was made through a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula.
