Borno: Gov Zulum bans petrol sales in Bama after Boko Haram attack

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has ordered an immediate ban on the sale of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) across all filling stations in Bama Local Government Area, including Bama town and the border community of Banki.
The directive, announced Saturday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, follows consultations with security agencies and is aimed at curbing the escalating security threats posed by insurgent activities in the area.
Governor Zulum said the restriction is part of a broader strategy to disrupt the supply chain of fuel to insurgents, warning that violators of the ban would face strict legal consequences.
“There will be no sacred cows. Security agencies have been ordered to clamp down on any filling station or individual that disobeys this directive,” Zulum declared.
He reiterated his government’s resolve to restore peace and called for the support of residents in defeating insurgency.
Following a recent Boko Haram attack on Izge community in Gwoza Local Government Area, Governor Zulum visited the affected area and approved the immediate release of 35 patrol vehicles and motorcycles to boost local security operations.
The support includes five Toyota Hilux vehicles and 30 motorcycles to aid the military and youth volunteers with mobility and rapid response capabilities.
Zulum commended the courage of the community and security forces in repelling the attack. “We are here to understand your challenges and act on them. Izge must not fall again,” he said.
He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the continued resettlement of displaced persons, listing communities like Ashigasha, Warabe, Guduf, and Wala among those to be restored soon.
Governor Zulum was accompanied by members of the Borno State Executive Council and the Gwoza House of Assembly representative, Abdullahi Buba Abatcha.
