President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of Zaccheus Adedeji as the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service. In a statement titled ‘President Tinubu Appoints New Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service,’ released by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, on Thursday, it was announced that:

“Hon. Zaccheus Adedeji has been appointed in an acting capacity for a period of 90 days, after which he will undergo confirmation as the substantive Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service. His initial term in office will span four years.”

Furthermore, President Tinubu has instructed the outgoing FIRS Chairman, Mr. Muhammad Nami, who has been in service since December 2019, to proceed on a three-month pre-retirement leave in accordance with Public Service Rule (PSR) 120243. This move will lead to Mr. Nami’s eventual retirement from service on December 8, 2023.

Zaccheus Adedeji, an outstanding graduate in accounting from the Obafemi Awolowo University, has most recently served as the Special Adviser to the President on Revenue. Prior to this role, he held positions as the Oyo State Commissioner of Finance and as the Executive Secretary/CEO of the National Sugar Development Council.

It is important to note that these directives from the President are effective immediately.
