Chelsea legend Petr Cech has stepped down from his role as Technical and Performance Director at Chelsea.

Cech is seen as the club’s greatest goalkeeper in the Premier League era, and he spent 11 years at the club during his playing career before a short spell at Arsenal.

Upon his retirement, Petr Cech returned to Chelsea, where he assumed the role of technical and performance director.

Rumours have it that Cech and new chairman Todd Boehly do not have a good working relationship, which is why he decided to quit.

Cech said as he anounced his exit: “It has been a huge privilege to perform this role at Chelsea for the past three years.

“With the Club under new ownership, I feel now is the right time for me to step aside.

“I am pleased that the Club is now in an excellent position with the new owners, and I am confident of its future success both on and off the pitch.”

It was Cech who was responsible for the signing of Edouard Mendy from Rennes, and the Senegal international has thanked Cech for his support.

Taking to social media, Mendy thanked Cech and wished him the best for the future.

“I want to thank you for all the moments, all the trainings and all the learnings we have shared together. Thank you for your trust,” Mendy wrote on Instagram.

“I wish you a brilliant future in your upcoming challenges.”
