The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is presently interrogating Abdulfatah Ahmed, the former governor of Kwara State, regarding questionable transactions amounting to billions of naira during his tenure in office.

On Monday morning, the ex-governor was observed arriving at the EFCC office in Ilorin, where he is currently responding to inquiries about the utilization of funds during his administration.

Ahmed served as the governor of Kwara State from May 2011 to May 2019, transitioning the leadership to the current Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

This is not the first time Ahmed has faced scrutiny from the EFCC. In May 2021, he underwent questioning by EFCC operatives at their headquarters in the Jabi area of Abuja.

The interrogation was related to the alleged misappropriation of approximately N9 billion from the Kwara State Government’s treasury during his governorship, as well as during his tenure as the Commissioner for Finance under ex-Governor Bukola Saraki’s administration.
