Gunmen, numbering around 40, invaded Kawu Community in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, abducting 23 individuals, including Alhaji Alhassan Sidi Kawu, a former Ward Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday. Kawu Community shares borders with Kaduna and Niger states.

According to Abdulmumini Zakari, the Deputy Speaker in the council and representative of the community, the gunmen, who originated from the Kuyeri Forest in Kaduna State, targeted various locations. Among the victims were the wife and son of the District Head, Alhaji Abdurrahman Danjuma Ali, as well as the former Ward Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party and his four children.

Zakari explained, “They divided themselves into groups, with some entering the palace of the District Head, where they abducted his son, Lukman, and his wife. Others attacked the residence of Alhaji Alhassan Sidi Kawu, the Marafa of Kawu and a former PDP Chairman of Kawu Ward. They kidnapped him and his four children.”

Additionally, the bandits entered the compound of Sarkin Pawan Kawu, Gambo Pawa, and seized him along with his two wives and several children.
