The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, has issued a stern warning, stating that ministers failing in their duties will face dismissal by the President.

Emphasizing Tinubu’s commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians, Usman delivered the cautionary message during the commencement of the technical retreat for federal ministries’ delivery desk officers in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State.

Addressing the gathering, Usman urged delivery officers and planning directors to exhibit unwavering dedication to their responsibilities. She underscored the President’s seriousness regarding his pledges and emphasized that ministers would be evaluated and removed if they failed to perform.

In her words, “It is crucial to comprehend that as ministerial delivery desk officers, you are the powerhouse responsible for providing feedback, consistently monitoring ministerial progress, and reporting challenges to the central coordinating and delivery unit. The President is resolute about his promises, and ministers will be held accountable.”

Usman provided specific examples, such as assessing the functionality of facilities at airports and the impact of delayed flight departures on airlines. She highlighted the need for tangible progress in areas like agriculture, emphasizing the growth of fertilizer use per hectare in light of significant investments in fertilizer interventions.

Earlier, upon their appointment, Usman had announced that all ministers would sign a performance bond with Tinubu, outlining expectations for 2024. This bond, she explained, would serve as a tool to track each minister’s performance throughout the year. It will encompass key performance indicators (KPIs) subject to quarterly reviews, ensuring a thorough evaluation of ministerial accomplishments.
