Ondo state Government establishes 33 local council development areas (LCDAs)

The Ondo State government has taken a significant step in enhancing local governance by announcing the creation of 33 Local Government Development Areas (LCDAs). This decision was made public after a state Executive Council meeting held in Akure, the state capital.

Charles Titiloye, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, confirmed that a proposed bill to establish the 33 additional LCDAs has been approved and will be forwarded to the state House of Assembly for enactment.

Upon the bill’s passage into law by the House of Assembly, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu will give his assent, marking the commencement of the full implementation of the 33 LCDAs. Charles Titiloye assured that these newly created LCDAs will enjoy equal power and functions as the existing 18 council areas.

Amidu Takuro, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, also announced the council’s approval of the Olora of Ora Ajowa in Akoko North West and Onikan of Etikan in Ilaje council area.

Furthermore, in response to the current socio-economic challenges, the council has set up an implementation committee on palliative. The state government is committed to rolling out palliatives to the people of the state in the near future.
