Kidnappers have threatened to kill a middle aged Benue lady, Ms Faith Lydia Olokpo, who escaped from their den few days after she was kidnapped, if she should fail to pay the N5 million ransom the family was asked to pay before her escape.

The lady was said to had been kidnapped at Ichakwu, Edumoga in Okpokwu local government area of Benue State on 29th May but few days later escaped from her kidnappers’ den at Kampala village close to Odoba community in Otukpa, Ogbadibo local government area of the state, on Saturday 31st May, 2021 after her abductors who stood guard reportedly slept off as a result of drug overdose.

IDOMA VOICE gathered that the victim, is the daughter of Mr Joseph Olokpo, proprietor of the famous St. Joseph Secondary School, Ichakwu, Edumoga in Okpokwu local government area of Benue State.

The kidnappers who were apparently enraged by her escape put a call across to the victim’s father last week and threatened that the N5 million they and the victim’s family earlier agreed as ransom must be fully paid if the family wants to live in the area in peace.

According to a source closed to the Olokpo family who pleaded anonymity for obvious security reasons, the kidnappers gave the family a stern warning over the ransom, threatening to kill many members of the family if the escaped victim fails to bring them the agreed sum. The source also added that members of the family have deserted the family compound at Ichakwu community since they received the unbelievable daredevil call.

As at the time of filing this report, it is not clear if a formal report has been filed at the Benue State command of the Nigerian Police Force or any other appropriate agencies.
