The Taraba State Police Command has officially confirmed the abduction of one of its inspectors. The abducted officer, identified as Inspector Emmanuel Yaro, was taken by suspected kidnappers from his farm on a Sunday.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abdullahi Usman, Inspector Yaro was serving with the Kurmi division of the state command. The incident occurred after he had taken some workers to his farm in Gidan-Idi village in the area and had gone to a nearby village to purchase food for the laborers.

“Immediately he left, the kidnappers stormed his farm and held the workers hostage.

“Unknown to him, he came back and met the kidnappers who immediately released the workers and went away with the inspector,” Usman said.

It’s worth noting that contrary to some reports, only the inspector was abducted, and there was no kidnapping of a pastor, his wife, or six other individuals in the state.

While reiterating the command’s readiness to clamp down on hoodlums making life unbearable for the people of the state, he warned social media users to always verify their information with the relevant authorities before posting them.

The abduction of the inspector comes barely a week after Governor Agbu Kefas urged the security chiefs to deploy more operatives and establish a naval base in Taraba.
