Herders with over 1,000 cattle arrived in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, on Thursday but were forced to leave by the Amotekun corps.

Our correspondent, who sighted the cattle in the early hours of Thursday around the Dele Yes Sir area, observed that luggage was attached to some of the animals.

The herders were armed with clubs and machetes moving towards West By-pass as men of Amotekun trailed them.

It was learnt that the herders came into Osun from Ogbomoso, Oyo State in search of pasture for their animals.

The Field Commander of Osun Amotekun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, confirmed the incident.

“There is no reason for panic…Those herders wanted to be unruly but our men stayed forced them out of the state,” he said.

Open grazing is banned in most Southwest states.
