Today, Thursday, July 14, 2022 on update on Bola Tinubu, IDOMA VOICE looks at the latest activities, news on the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

1. The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and the governorship candidate of the party for the Osun poll, Lasun Yusuff, on Wednesday descended on the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, over a comment he reportedly made about their party which that they considered derogatory.

Obi, who was in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, to support Yusuff at the party’s governorship rally, while addressing LP members, advised them that such a comment should be returned with love.

2. A group, Organisation for Global Youths Peace Empowerment and Development Initiative ,OGYPEDI, has said the choice of running mates by the presidential candidates of All Progressives Congress, APC, and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Messrs. Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar, has paved the way for Peter Obi’s victory.

In a statement by its National Coordinator, Mr. Japhet Omene, the group questioned why Atiku didn’t accept the recommendation of PDP committee set up to choose a running mate.

3. The Network of Clergymen in Nigeria (NCMN), South-South zone has backed the choice of former governor of Borno state Kashim Shettima by the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen Bola Tinubu as his running mate.

A statement released to journalists in Benin City by Coordinator of the group in the region, Pastor Joseph Francis and his deputy, Apostle Odion Ebodaghe said they align with the former governor of Lagos state’s consideration of what would remake Nigeria and not religious sentiment as the basis for the choice.

4. A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ebun Adegboruwa, has highlighted some implications of presenting a Muslim-Muslim ticket by the All Progressives Congress.

In a post on Wednesday, the human rights lawyer highlighted 10 “grave” implications while faulting the APC’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.

5. Street-pop artiste, Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, has revealed that he was paid to endorse the All Progressive Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

In the video posted on Wednesday, he also asked Nigerians to vote for Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.

6. The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has met with the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and pledged to intervene in the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Mr Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, met with the leadership of the student body on Thursday in Ososgbo, Osun State.

7. Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has asked presidential candidates of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Atiku Abubakar, to clarify their age certificates.

In a statement, its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, said Nigerians “deserve to know everything about the persons that are putting themselves forward to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.”

8. An Abuja-based human rights lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, stated that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, cannot be allowed to monopolise Osun State as he did with Lagos State.

Olajengbesi made this known in a statement on Wednesday following a comment by Tinubu during the APC rally in Osogbo, the Osun State capital ahead of the Osun governorship poll on July 16.

9. Different support groups in Ondo State working toward the victory of Sen. Bola Tinubu and Sen. Kashim Shettima in the 2023 presidential election, have collapsed their structures to pave way for a more robust and formidable campaign organisation.

In a communique released on Wednesday in Akure by Dr Tunji Abayomi, a chieftain of APC in the state, the groups reached the agreement at a meeting in Akure, which was attended by prominent leaders of the party.

10. Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has said people from Southern Nigeria should not be bothered by the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress because of their fight for Presidency to be zoned to the region.

He called on Nigerians, especially southerners who have fought for the Presidency to be zoned to the region to vote for competence and not based on the religions of candidates.
