Today, Saturday, July 16, 2022 on update on Bola Tinubu, IDOMA VOICE looks at the latest activities, news on the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

1. The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Friday, dashed the hopes of several Nigerians wishing that he would reconsider his stance on the contentious Muslim-Muslim ticket by replacing former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, with a northern Christian, as his running mate.

A source within Tinubu’s camp revealed hours to the deadline of the Independent National Electoral Commission that the APC standard-bearer had shunned all entreaties to drop Shettima.

2. Kashim Shettima, former governor of Borno, topped the list of 11 persons recommended to be running mate of Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), by a committee headed by Babachir Lawal, former secretary to the government of the federation (SGF).
According to Daily Trust, the panel — planning and strategy committee of the Tinubu campaign organisation — which Lawal chaired, supervised the sub-committee that recommended the 11 persons to Tinubu.

3. The Peoples Democratic Party has instituted a lawsuit compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission to prevent All Progressives Congress Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu; and Labour Party standard bearer, Peter Obi, from replacing their running mates with Senator Kashim Shettima and Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed respectively.

The PDP is also asking the court to declare that Tinubu and Obi be disqualified unless they contest alongside their previous running mates – Kabiru Masari and Doyin Okupe respectively.

4. A former Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Chief Nduese Essien has faulted the claim by the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu that he would bring the naira at par with the dollar if voted in as the next president come 2023.

Chief Essien ,a two term member of the National Assembly, stated that such a campaign talk was only ‘meant for the marines’, as the APC Presidential candidate has no magic wand to turn the Naira around to equate in value with the Dollar.

5. President Muhammadu Buhari has denied that he got advice against the Bola Tinubu-Kashim Shettima ticket.
The former Lagos governor announced the ex-Borno governor and Senator as his running mate after visiting Buhari in Daura, Katsina state.

6. Chairman of the Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, Ibrahim Bilal, has called on Nigerians, especially adherents of the Christian faith, not to lose sleep over the choice of Sen. Kashim Shettima as running mate to the presidential flagbearer, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Bilal said he did not foresee Tinubu’s presidency hurting the Christian faith or religion with the choice of the former Borno State governor as the APC’s vice presidential candidate.

7. National Co-ordinator of Nigeria Young Professionals For Tinubu (NYPT) 2O23, Alhaji Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, has called on Nigerians to support Bola Ahmad Tinubu because the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate will rescue the country from insecurity and poverty if elected.

Yakasai spoke in Kano when he gathered political stakeholders at NYPT office located at Yankaba, Nassarawa local government area to celebrate the victory of Tinubu as APC flag bearer and Kashim Shettima as running mate.

8. Leader of Christian members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 19 states of the North, Professor Doknan Sheni, yesterday, shed more light on why they were against the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of the party for the 2023 poll.

Professor Sheni, who regretted that some Northern APC governors convinced Tinubu to go for same faith ticket, said the development could cost the party the presidency and other positions across the country.

9. The Alliance for Democracy (AD) on Friday declared support for the re-election of Gov. Gboyega Oyetola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Saturday’s governorship election in Osun as well as the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Chairman and Secretary of the party’s Convention Planning Committee, Malam Abdallah Muktar and Mr Kola Ajayi.

10. A Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Mr. Sunny Onuesoke, has said that the arrogance displayed by the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would backfire in tomorrow’s governorship election in Osun State.

He, therefore, advised the APC’s presidential candidate to henceforth watch his utterances against other political parties noting that politicking in Osun State is very different from that of Lagos.
