A devastating incident occurred in the Ago Palace Way of Okota, Lagos state, resulting in the loss of four lives, including a pregnant woman and her two children when a car collided with a tricycle.

According to an eyewitness (@tobe_steeve) who shared the account on Tuesday, a tragic event unfolded as a police officer and the driver were engaged in a dispute over the steering wheel while the vehicle was in motion. This dispute led to the loss of control, causing a collision with a tricycle carrying passengers.

The eyewitness recounted, ‘Something happened in my locality this morning.

The police apprehended the driver, and one of them entered his car, while the others followed suit. En route to the station, near the Okota roundabout, the driver decided to take an unexpected turn onto Ago Palace Way.’

‘While in motion, the police officer and the driver began to struggle to control the steering wheel.

Unfortunately, they both lost control, resulting in a collision with a tricycle (keke). The tricycle was carrying a woman with her two children and the rider, and tragically, all of them lost their lives. May their souls Rest In Peace.’

‘Passers-by present at the scene began to discuss the incident, and many pointed fingers at the police for not effectively performing their duties, thereby putting lives at risk.

‘The police need to do better… However, as responsible citizens, we must reflect on our behavior. Both the police and the driver should be held accountable.’

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time.”
