Manchester United have successfully signed Turkish goalkeeper, Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce for a fee of £4.3 million. The 25-year-old, who has earned five caps for the Turkish national team, has committed to a four-year contract with the club.

Bayindir played a pivotal role for Fenerbahce as they clinched the Turkish Cup and achieved a second-place finish in the Super Lig.

Expressing his enthusiasm about the move, Bayindir stated, “It is a huge honour to join Manchester United and become the first Turkish player to represent this incredible club,” said Bayindir.

“I have a passion for success, and I will give everything to help this special group of players to achieve our ambitions.

“I cannot wait to start working with such an experienced goalkeeping unit. We will support each other and drive high standards every day so that each of us is ready to perform whenever called upon.”

Bayindir becomes Manchester United’s second goalkeeper signing of the summer, following the acquisition of Cameroonian Andre Onana from Inter Milan for £47.2 million.

Having spent five seasons at Fenerbahce since his transfer from fellow Turkish side Ankaragucu in 2019, Bayindir has accumulated 166 appearances and maintained 53 clean sheets.

John Murtough, the club’s football director, commented on the signing, stating, “Altay is an outstanding addition to our squad and further enhances the quality of our already strong contingent of experienced goalkeepers. Consistently performing at a high level in a competitive European league, he possesses the attributes to support us in pursuing our aspirations across all competitions in the upcoming season and beyond.”
