Organised Labour threatens nationwide protest over Ajaero’s arrest

The Organized Labour has issued a warning to initiate immediate nationwide protests if the detained President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is not released by the end of Wednesday.

Ajaero was apprehended during a workers’ demonstration in Imo State, where they protested alleged persistent rights violations by the state government. He was taken from the NLC State Council Secretariat by heavily armed police in Owerri and transported to an undisclosed location.

In a joint statement with the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Labor unions accused the Governor of Imo State and the Imo State Commissioner of Police of kidnapping the NLC leader.

The Organized Labour has urged workers to be ready for swift action, asserting that work cannot continue while the NLC President remains in detention.

The Organised Labour said that Uzodimma must be called to order by President Bola Tinubu “to avert what he has chosen to turn the state into – a den of thugs and blood suckers.”
