The Nigerian Army has outlined the burial arrangements for the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, who passed away at the age of 56 after a brief illness.

Onyema Nwachukwu, the Army’s spokesperson, shared the details on Tuesday in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

According to the announcement, a service of songs will be held on Thursday from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Army Headquarters Garrison Parade Ground, Mogadishu Cantonment, in Abuja, to celebrate the life and contributions of the late COAS.

The funeral service will take place on Friday at the National Christian Centre in Abuja’s Central Business District, scheduled from 10 am to 12:45 pm. Afterward, Lagbaja will be laid to rest at the National Military Cemetery, with the burial ceremony set for between 2 pm and 6 pm.

Lagbaja was appointed Chief of Army Staff by President Bola Tinubu on June 19, 2023. His passing has sparked an outpouring of grief, with many colleagues and admirers paying tribute to his exceptional service to the nation.

The Nigerian Army has invited the public, especially members of the military community, to attend the services and honor one of the country’s foremost military leaders.
