American gospel music icon, Ron Kenoly, has passed away at the age of 81.

The celebrated singer, songwriter, and worship leader, whose music touched lives worldwide, reportedly died on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

Kenoly was born on December 6, 1944, in Coffeyville, Kansas, USA. Rising to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s, he became widely recognized for his live worship performances and for inspiring countless people across the United States and Africa to embrace their faith through music.

Among his most cherished works are live worship favorites like Lift Him Up, Jesus Is Alive, and many others that continue to resonate with his devoted fans.

His contributions have left a lasting mark on both his family and the global gospel music community.

Ron Kenoly’s musical journey began after serving in the United States Air Force. His breakthrough came in 1992 when Lift Him Up set records as the fastest-selling worship album of its time.

Another standout, Welcome Home, produced by Tom Brooks, received critical acclaim and topped Billboard’s contemporary worship music charts.
