2027: Osun APM endorses Gov Makinde as presidential candidate
The Osun State chapter of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has officially affirmed Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as its preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The party also revealed ongoing efforts to woo members and structures of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into its fold ahead of upcoming elections.
The endorsement followed the conclusion of its primary elections, where candidates for National and State Assembly seats were selected across federal and state constituencies in Osun State.
Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Adewale Adebayo, announced that Makinde was unanimously affirmed across all 332 wards in the state.
He described the exercise as a show of unity, discipline, and collective purpose within the party.
“In every generation, political movements survive not only through competition but through cohesion, discipline and shared purpose. Today, APM is sending that message clearly and boldly,” Adebayo said.
He added that the outcome of the primaries reflected the party’s confidence in credible leadership and its commitment to operating as a united political bloc.
“Sometimes, the strongest democracy is not in division, but in agreement built on trust, consultation and a common vision,” he stated.
Announcing the presidential endorsement, Adebayo said, “Following the successful conduct of our primaries, we have today affirmed His Excellency Seyi Makinde, the sole presidential aspirant of our great party, as the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement for the 2027 general election.”
He further noted that the process was peaceful across all 332 wards in Osun State, with no reports of violence or disruption.
Adebayo also disclosed that reconciliation efforts had been activated to engage aggrieved members and strengthen party unity ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election and the 2027 general polls.
He called on members of the PDP and other Nigerians to join the APM, describing the party as a platform capable of strengthening opposition politics and advancing its political agenda.
