The National Security Council has agreed to have a better and more robust collaboration among the security agencies and the larger society in order to curb the worsening security situation in the country.
Addressing State House correspondents after the National Security Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, National Security adviser Babagana Mungono said there is need for the security challenges to be dealt with in a more comprehensive manner.

While noting that the security challenges are multiple in nature, the NSA explained that they are both internal, external and economic.
When asked to give an overview of the general security situation in the country, the NSA declined insisting that Nigeria’s security challenges are not peculiar to the country.
He noted that the almajiri is one of the root causes of the security challenges and should be addressed now.
The National security Adviser said the call by the National Assembly for president Buhari to declare a state of emergency on insecurity, did not come up for discussion.
The National Security Council meeting is held once every quarter.
