Names of over 20 residents killed by bandits in Kaduna revealed

The Kaduna State Government has revealed the identities of 29 out of the thirty-eight people who lost their lives after suspected bandits attacked different communities in Giwa Local Government Area of the state on Sunday.

The victims’ identities were disclosed by the state’s Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs on Sunday afternoon.

The commissioner in charge of the ministry, Samuel Aruwan, had while confirming the attacks earlier said the bandits invaded Kauran Fawa, Marke, and Riheya communities in the LGA and razed several houses and vehicles.

The ministry, in a statement signed by the commissioner, said “security agencies have confirmed to the Kaduna State Government that 38 people were killed across the locations attacked.

“Twenty-nine of the victims have been identified, with nine remaining unidentified as of the time of this update. The 29 identified are listed as:

13 Sale Makeri

 

14 Sani Lawal

 

15 Auwal Umar

 

16 Jamilu Hassan

 

17 Badamasi Mukhtar

Aruwan added that the identities of the remining victims would be published as soon as they’re recognised.

The commissioner had earlier said, “Governor Nasir El-Rufai received the reports with sadness, sent condolences to the families of the victims of the brutal attacks while praying for the repose of their souls.

“The Governor also commiserated with the affected communities and directed the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency to conduct an urgent assessment of the area towards providing relief.”
