APC Leadership Crisis: Tinubu holds meetings with Admu, Omisore,

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Tuesday had separate meetings with Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Iyiola Omisore, the immediate past National Chairman and Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), respectively. The meetings took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Reports indicate that both Adamu and Omisore had resigned from their positions last week ahead of the National Caucus and National Executive Council (NEC) meetings, which were subsequently canceled.

As the overall leader of the APC, President Tinubu wields considerable influence within the party and is expected to play a pivotal role in the selection of new party leaders.

Although there has been no official statement regarding the purpose of the meetings at the time of this report, sources suggest that they were part of efforts to address issues surrounding the party’s leadership.

In an exclusive interview with Daily Trust, Senator Abdullahi Adamu had refrained from commenting on the situation until President Tinubu returned from his trip to Nairobi, Kenya.

While neither Adamu nor Omisore has openly confirmed their resignation, Abubakar Kyari, the Acting National Chairman, who previously held the position of Deputy National Chairman (North), stated that both leaders had indeed resigned. According to the APC constitution, this development has led to Senator Abubakar Kyari assuming the position of Acting National Chairman, while Festus Fuantar, the Deputy National Secretary, has taken up the role of Acting National Secretary.
