Awoniyi scores as Manchester United beat 10-man Nottingham Forest 3-2

Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi found the net, maintaining his impressive scoring streak, but it wasn’t enough to secure a victory as 10-man Nottingham Forest suffered a 3-2 defeat against Manchester United in their Premier League clash on Saturday.

Awoniyi’s goal extends his remarkable record of scoring in seven consecutive Premier League matches for Nottingham Forest, setting a new club record.

His achievement also places him among the elite ranks of African players to have scored in seven consecutive Premier League games, alongside the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and Mohamed Salah.

Notably, Ola Aina also featured for Forest, completing the full 90 minutes.

Awoniyi kicked off the scoring just two minutes into the game, giving Forest an early advantage. However, Willy Boly swiftly responded, doubling the lead for Forest just moments later.

Manchester United fought back with Christian Eriksen netting in the 17th minute, and Casemiro leveling the scoreline in the 52nd minute.

Forest’s challenge became tougher when Joe Worrall received a straight red card in the 67th minute, reducing them to 10 men.

United seized the opportunity and took the lead in the 76th minute through a Bruno Fernandes penalty, securing a 3-2 victory.
