Declan Rice should have won player of the season – Piers Morgan

British broadcaster Piers Morgan has claimed that Declan Rice should have won the Premier League Player of the Season award instead of Bruno Fernandes.

Fernandes was officially named Premier League Player of the Season on Saturday after a standout campaign in which he helped Manchester United secure qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Reacting to the decision on X, Morgan described it as “ridiculous,” insisting Rice was more deserving of the award.

“Absolute travesty that someone whose team never once competed for the title wins over a guy whose brilliance all season led us to the title,” he wrote.

Fernandes also equalled the Premier League record for most assists in a single season with 20.
