Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has expressed his admiration for Kizz Daniel and Tekno’s 2023 hit song, “Buga,” stating that it is fast becoming the country’s unofficial second national anthem.

In an interview with Arise TV, Vice President Shettima shed light on his participation in the “Buga” dance challenge, which gained significant attention last year.

The Vice President emphasized the importance of showcasing Nigeria’s arts and culture to the global community, citing the country’s ambitious vision known as “Nigeria Destination 2030.” According to Shettima, this initiative aims to position Nigeria on the global stage, leveraging the impact of its vibrant arts and cultural scene.

“We cannot run away from the fact that Nigerian arts and culture are creating waves in the global scene,” Shettima remarked.

“Nigeria has been out of the global scene for quite some time. This is an avenue for us to reintroduce Nigeria.” He sees the “Buga” dance as more than just a viral trend, describing it as almost becoming a second national anthem for the country.

The Vice President’s comments reflect the government’s commitment to promoting arts and culture as part of the broader strategy to realize the vision encapsulated in “Nigeria Destination 2030.” The acknowledgment of the cultural impact of songs like “Buga” underscores the significance of music and dance in shaping the nation’s identity and contributing to its global recognition.
