Liverpool’s forward leaves club for Monaco

Takumi Minamino, Liverpool’s Japanese forward, has been officially signed by Monaco from the Anfield club as confirmed by the Ligue 1 side.

Minamino, who had impressed against Red Bull Salzburg earlier that season in a UEFA Champions League match, transferred to the Reds midway through their Premier League title-winning 2019/2020 season. But, he only managed to make 55 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions with a regular position for Jurgen Klopp’s team hard to come by.

To give him the opportunity to play more minutes, Minamino went on loan to Southampton for the second half of the 2020/2021 campaign. THEWILL reported on Saturday that Philippe Clement, Monaco manager, confirmed Minamino’s impending arrival in a post-match interview even with a late push for Minamino from Fulham.
They have made the 27-year-old their first acquisition of the summer transfer window. At the third qualifying round stage, Monaco will make a comeback to the UEFA Champions League. They are also looking for new additions after selling Aurelien Tchouameni to Real Madrid for a pricey €100 million.
