  1. A former Governor of Abia State and former Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu is dead.
    Onuh, who was the former chairman of the now defunct All Nigerian Peoples Party, ANPP, reportedly passed away on Thursday morning at an Abuja hospotal at the age of 72.

    According to Jackson Udeh, “First Civilian Governor of Abia State, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, has passed on this morning in an Abuja hospital. Good Night, Dr. Onu. May your soul Rest In Peace. Amen!”

  2. The Benue State Police Command has apprehended a female armed bandit known to be an associate of the notorious militia kingpin, Ukum Dekera, also known as Chen. She was captured by the Special Joint Task Force of the Benue State Police Command, operating under the codename Operation Zenda.

    The joint task force, led by Superintendent of Police, SP Felix Arumun Nomiyugh, detained the female armed bandit, identified as Faith Torkule, aged 37, at Gbagir village in Tyuruv ward of Ukum LGA in the state. She was apprehended along the Wukari-Zaki Biam road at Ayati junction, in possession of two hundred (200) live rounds of ammunition suitable for a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) and 117 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

  3. The body of a kidnapped seven-year-old boy, Khalifa Saleh, has been found in a water canal at Kuruma community of Bunkure Local Government Area in Kano State.

  4. Gunmen on Thursday attacked a police check point along the Abakaliki -Enugu Highway, setting a patrol van belonging to the Police ablaze.
    The incident happened at Ishieke junction at the outskirts of Abakaliki town.

    Sources in the area claimed the gunmen killed one police officer and abducted another but this could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.

  5. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Nollywood actor Pope Obumneme Odonwodo, fondly known as Junior Pope.

    Describing Junior Pope as a vibrant and energetic actor, Obi highlighted his ability to bring both entertainment and enlightenment to Nigerians through his roles in movies and comedy skits.

  6. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly exonerated the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, of fraud allegations.

    This development was disclosed by renowned Nigerian journalist Rufai Oseni in a post on his social media handle on Thursday.

  7. The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said the 700 kilometres Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project will cost N2.8 trillion.

    Umahi, a former Governor of Ebonyi State, said every kilometre of the highway project under construction costs N4 billion.
  8. The Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) is contemplating a merger with multiple political parties across the nation to build a powerful coalition to overthrow the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

    The National Chairman of the ADC, Ralphs Nwosu, disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday.

  9. Senate President Godswill Akpabio has declared that things are getting better in Nigeria, and there is no need for the people to be worried.
