  1. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has urged religious leaders to continue offering prayers for the nation. Wike made this appeal in Abuja on Thursday during a courtesy visit by the Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr. Oliver Ali Aba.

    Wike said: “We will continue to ask religious leaders to continue to pray for the salvation and growth of Nigeria. Prayer is key. We can do what we think but without God, there is nothing we can achieve.”

  2. Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has pledged to maintain pressure on the camp of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike.

    Fubara made this commitment while dismissing the purported list of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee members for the State circulating on social media as false.

  3. The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) recently approved an increase in electricity tariffs for customers falling under the Band A classification. This adjustment, announced by Vice Chairman Musliu Oseni, entails customers paying N225 per kilowatt-hour (KW/h), up from the current N66.

    Band A customers are those fortunate to receive a consistent 20 to 24 hours of electricity supply daily, while Band B subscribers enjoy 16 to 20 hours. Moving down the scale, Band C beneficiaries receive 12 to 16 hours daily, Band D customers get eight to 12 hours, and Band E subscribers only receive four to eight hours of electricity consumption each day.

  4. President Bola Tinubu has called on members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to come together and strengthen their ties.

    He urged members to reject forces bent on causing division within the community. The president stated this while speaking at the inauguration of the Sixth Legislature of the ECOWAS Parliament, on Thursday in Abuja.
  5. Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga has alleged that Obidents, the supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate at the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, desperately want the government of President Bola Tinubu to fail.

    Making this allegation during a podcast session with renowned broadcaster Seun Okinbaloye, the presidential spokesman further detailed that Obidients were happy when the country’s currency crashed against the dollar.

  6. A former national vice chairman, North West of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Mohammed Lukman, says the distribution of leadership positions within the party is grossly unbalanced.

    The party chieftain maintained that having Abdullahi Ganduje as the party’s national chairman is a violation of the APC constitution.

  9. The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has filed an appeal at the Appeal Court against the criminal charges the Nigerian government preferred against him.

    Kanu, who filed the appeal through his legal team led by Aloy Ejimakor, rejected the March 19 ruling of Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on the charges filed against him.

    The military has received an order from a Federal High Court in Borno to release at least 313 suspected terrorists.

  10. The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has given assurances that the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) is close to re-arresting Nadeem Anjarwalla, the Binance Regional Manager for Africa, who recently escaped from custody in Nigeria.

    During a press conference held at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja, Egbetokun addressed the escape incident and discussed the broader challenges faced by the police in combating crime across the country.
