PDP forum suspends two state chairmen over alleged anti-party activities
The forum of state chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended two of its members over alleged anti-party activities and attempts to sabotage preparations for the party’s forthcoming national convention.
The decision was reached during a meeting held on Tuesday at the PDP FCT secretariat in Abuja, presided over by the forum’s acting secretary, Edward Percy Masha.
Those suspended are the Imo State PDP chairman, Austine Nwachukwu, and his Abia State counterpart, Amah Abraham Nnana.
In a communique signed by the forum’s new chairman, Tony Aziegbemi of Edo State, and Masha, the forum accused the duo of colluding with external forces allegedly linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to disrupt the party’s convention scheduled for November 15 and 16.
The statement described their action of seeking a court injunction to stop the convention as “a betrayal of trust and collective resolve.”
The forum also condemned what it termed the APC’s “desperate attempts” to pressure PDP governors, lawmakers, and stakeholders into defecting, saying such moves threaten Nigeria’s democracy.
A vote of confidence was passed on the PDP National Working Committee, the PDP Governors’ Forum, and other statutory organs of the party.
The forum reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening unity within the PDP and working with the party’s leadership to reposition it as a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections.
