Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has declared an unwavering commitment to bringing the armed herdsmen responsible for the heinous massacre in Wandoo community, Mbalom, to justice. The attack, which occurred on Thursday evening, resulted in the tragic loss of 16 innocent lives, alongside the destruction of homes, farms, and food stores.

In a directive relayed through his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the Governor urged swift action from security forces to apprehend the perpetrators behind this brutal assault.

“We had given clear orders to these criminals to vacate the state immediately. Additionally, we issued a 14-day ultimatum to those engaging in open grazing, demanding compliance with the law or departure from the state,” stated Governor Alia.

“The expiration of this ultimatum marks a critical moment. The events at Wandoo appear to be a deliberate challenge to my administration’s resolve on this crucial matter,” he added.

Governor Alia extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, emphasizing his dedication to enforcing the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law (2017) within the state.

“To any criminals, regardless of their guise, who have infiltrated our state, your time is up. There will be no compromise in the stringent enforcement of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law (2017),” affirmed the Governor.
