Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has reacted to the death of veteran Nollywood comic actor, John Okafor, also known as Mr Ibu.

In a heartfelt condolence message shared on his social media handle on Sunday, Obi described Mr Ibu’s demise as a significant loss not only to the entertainment industry but to the entire nation.

His tweet read, “His passing is truly heart-wrenching. Mr Ibu was an iconic comedic actor who embodied laughter, radiated joy, and spread happiness.

“When news of his illness surfaced, we all prayed earnestly for his swift recovery, hoping to see him back in good health.

“His departure is a profound loss, not just for the entertainment sector, but for the entire country.

“Those artists who bring light-heartedness to our nation also play a crucial role in helping us navigate through life’s darkest moments.

“On behalf of my family, I extend heartfelt condolences to his grieving family, the Actors Guild of Nigeria, which has recently lost two legendary actors within a short span, and the entire Nollywood community.

“We share in the sorrow of his passing, yet find solace in the cherished memories of joy and happiness he leaves behind.”
