Police arrest two suspects for armed robbery, conspiracy in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has arrested two suspects, Abubakar Musa (22) and Usman Ismail (20), both residents of Nasarawo Quarters, in connection with a criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.

According to a statement released on Thursday by Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, the suspects allegedly attacked four individuals—Abdullahi Umar (26), Aliyu Usman (23), Umar Sulaiman (24), and Haruna Muhammad (16)—all from BCGA Quarters in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.

The incident took place on November 23, 2024, around 8:00 pm in Hayin Kwarin Misau Quarters, behind Bago Primary School, as the victims were returning home from work. The suspects, armed with a machete, knife, and stick, reportedly stole various items from the victims, including a Tecno Camon A31 smartphone worth ₦50,000, a keypad phone valued at ₦6,500, an Honor 360 smartphone worth ₦250,000, and an Itel Soft Touch phone valued at ₦207,000.

After receiving the complaint on November 25 at about 4:24 pm, the police launched a swift response through Operation Hattara and arrested the suspects.

“Upon investigation, the suspects admitted to the crime. They will soon be charged to court for prosecution,” Abdullahi said.

The police also recovered several items from the suspects, including a machete, cutlass, stick, and knife.

The Gombe State Police Command reassured the public of its commitment to fighting crime and ensuring the safety and security of the state.
