Nigeria is a disgrace, it’s a genocide, they’re killing people by the thousands – Trump blows hot
United States President Donald Trump has voiced outrage over what he described as large-scale killings of Christians in Nigeria. On a conservative radio programme aired Friday, he asserted that thousands of Christians are being murdered in Africa’s most populous nation.
Trump had recently designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” for alleged religious-freedom violations and threatened military action if the killings do not stop. He labelled the situation “a disgrace” and accused the Nigerian government of failing to protect Christian communities targeted by Islamist extremists.
“All we do is give a lot of aid to Nigeria. We may end up stopping it,” Trump said. “Nigeria is a disgrace. They’re killing people by the thousands. It’s a genocide. I’m really angry about it.”
If no meaningful progress is made, the president hinted that the U.S. may pull all American assistance and even use military force.
Nigeria’s government has strongly rejected the claims and the threatened intervention, insisting the violence is complex, impacts all faiths, and is not concentrated on Christians alone
