African Democratic Congress senatorial aspirant for Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, David Olofu, has condemned the alleged hijacking of electoral materials during the party’s primary election in Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency.

In a statement issued by the Secretary of the David Olofu Campaign Council, Dr Friday Adakole Elijah, the campaign alleged that armed men intercepted the vehicle conveying electoral materials and the Apa Local Government ADC Chairman, Hon. Sharon Adokpe.

According to the statement, the attackers allegedly forced the party chairman out of the moving vehicle before fleeing with the electoral materials to an unknown destination.

The campaign council maintained that under the circumstances, no valid primary election took place in the constituency.

“The David Olofu Campaign Council strongly condemns the alleged forceful snatching and diversion of electoral materials intended for the African Democratic Congress primaries in Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency,” the statement read.

The council further called on the state and national leadership of the ADC to reject any result that may emerge from the disrupted exercise.

It also urged the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to investigate the incident, arrest those involved and prevent the validation of what it described as any fraudulent result from the exercise.

The campaign council also demanded the disqualification of any beneficiary of the alleged disrupted process and insisted that those responsible be prosecuted in line with the law.
