Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have announced the surrender of two senior terrorist commanders to troops of Sector 2 in Geidam, Borno State, marking another breakthrough in the military’s ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the North-East.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Acting Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI Headquarters in Maiduguri.

According to the statement, the two surrendered commanders were identified as “Munzirs” within the terrorist leadership structure. They arrived in Maiduguri at about 7:30 p.m. on July 5 and are currently in military custody undergoing profiling, debriefing and intelligence exploitation.

The military said preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspects held influential positions within the terrorist group and possessed extensive knowledge of its operational activities, command structure and logistics network.

It added that intelligence gathered during the debriefing has already provided valuable insights into the group’s operational methods, supply mechanisms and support networks. The information is expected to strengthen ongoing intelligence-led operations aimed at locating, disrupting and dismantling remaining terrorist enclaves across the North-East.

“The surrender of the two commanders represents another major setback for the terrorist faction and further validates the effectiveness of the sustained offensive operations being conducted by troops of Operation HADIN KAI in conjunction with partners,” the statement said.

The military noted that sustained land and air offensives, backed by enhanced intelligence operations, have continued to restrict the terrorists’ freedom of movement, degrade their fighting capability and weaken their command and control structures.

It added that the increasing military pressure has forced more terrorist leaders and fighters to abandon the insurgency and surrender.

Operation HADIN KAI said the latest surrender underscores the continued disintegration of the terrorist group and reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations until all terrorist elements are either neutralised or compelled to surrender.

The military also pledged to continue exploiting actionable intelligence and working with relevant stakeholders to restore lasting peace, security and stability across the North-East.
