APGA reveals why It endorsed Tinubu for 2027 presidency

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has explained its decision to endorse President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 general elections, citing party policy and its confidence in the President’s leadership.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Morning Show on Friday, APGA National Chairman, Sylvester Ezeokenwa, said the endorsement was based on a combination of the party’s longstanding political approach and its conviction about Tinubu’s administration.

Ezeokenwa explained that the decision was in line with a policy the party adopted years ago, noting that APGA had previously supported the presidential candidacy of former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2010/2011.

“Well, I think there are a lot of thinking that went into that policy. Like I always say, it is a policy, or it is a decision that was fuelled by both policy and conviction,” he said.

According to him, APGA has maintained the policy of aligning with presidential candidates whose programmes reflect the party’s values.

He added that the party’s endorsement of Tinubu was also driven by its belief that the President’s reforms align with APGA’s progressive agenda and are in the interest of the country.

“The party believes that the President is steering the country in the right direction,” Ezeokenwa said, adding that the reforms introduced by Tinubu informed the party’s decision to support his candidacy.

APGA had on Wednesday endorsed President Tinubu as its preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
