  1. After a prolonged 92-day wait since his inauguration on May 29, 2023, Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State is set to inaugurate his cabinet today, marking a significant milestone in the state’s governance.

  2. A Benue State High Court, led by Justice John Shishi, has issued an order summoning prominent state figures, including Governor Hyacinth Alia, the Benue State Government, the Commissioner of Police, and the Attorney General. They are required to appear before the court on September 4, 2023, to justify the continued detention of Mr. Terhemba Paul Gyenger.

  3. Acting Executive Secretary of Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA), James Anodoakaa Iorpuu, has launched a campaign to raise awareness about the need to evacuate flood-prone areas. This follows the release of water from Cameroon’s LAGDO-DAM into River Benue, which is expected to impact areas along the river and flood-prone regions across 22 Local Government Areas.

  7. Prof. Ben Angwe, the governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Benue State, has resigned from the party. His resignation was confirmed through a letter addressed to the party Chairman in Mbatyu Ward, Gboko local government area of the state.
