Good morning. Here are ten thing currently trending in Benue State this new week

1. Latest findings by IDOMA VOICE indicate that the official online portal of Benue State government still has the name of the ex-governor, Gabriel Suswam as still in charge of the state.
The website still has the former deputy governor, Steve Lawani as still in office, whereas the duo has since been replaced by Samuel Ortom and Benson Abounu as governor and deputy governor respectively.

2. The Chairman, Benue State University visitation panel, Professor Daniel Saror has tendered his resignation letter to Governor Samuel Ortom, Ati Terkula reports.
In his letter, Prof Saror cited a media report in The Nation of June 5, 2015, page 8 as reason for his immediate resignation saying the comments credited to the state governor concerning the report of the university’s visitation panel as embarrassing and unfortunate.

3. There are report that s supporters of both Hon. Hassan Anthony Saleh and Hon. Chris Adabah Abbah (Mad Lion) get set to throng Abuja on Tuesday for the inauguration of the 8th Assembly.
It would be recalled that Hon. Chris Abba defeated the immediate past Member, Hon. Saleh at the PDP Primaries in December 2014 and was thereafter returned elected unopposed, having no rival from another party.

4. The All Progressives Congress Senatorial candidate in Benue South in the last general election, Dan Onjeh has denied making crude statement against Idoma meeting during APC’s Expanded Caucus Meeting in Makurdi recently.

Onjeh was quoted as saying that some local governments in zone C who voted for the governor during the election should be giving priority during appointment.
The former NANS/WASU president said a conventional media wouldn’t have reported in this manner; this is just one of the downsides of the social media, ‘free-to-air’.

5. Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has directed the restoration of water supply to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area.
Ortom gave the directive during the swearing-in of members of Batch A stream 2, at the weekend.

The governor said it was difficult for corps members to operate without water and urged the ministry in charge to immediately act on his directive. He added that his administration would address some of the other challenges at the camp as soon as the economic situation of the state improves.

6. The deputy governor of Benue State, Engr. Benson Abounu, yesterday made an inspection visit to Igumale Cement Factory located in Ado Local Government area.

He was accompanied on this tour by the Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. James Ejembi Okefe and the former Commercial for Commerce and Industry, Alex Adum.
Engr. Abounu expressed deep shock and dissatisfaction with what is on ground.

7. The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has ordered the reinstatement of the deposed Ter Nagi, Chief Daniel Abomtse, to his position as the substantive Ter Nagi with all benefits.
Chief Abomtse was infamously deposed by the former governor, Gabriel Suswam following allegations of gross misconduct, embezzlement of subordinates salaries, unauthorised press releases and complacency during the Fulani crisis.

8. Benue State Government is to revive and upgrade the Agricultural Training Centre Mbatie in Buruku Local Government Area.

Governor Samuel Ortom who made the pledge during an inspection visit to the institution lamented the dilapidation of structures there and the small student population.

Governor Ortom maintained that the training centre has great potential to contribute to the development of the agricultural sector in the state, saying he will do everything possible including seeking foreign assistance to bring the school back to life.

9. After a long brotherly battle, the All Progressives Congress have settled for Senator Ahmed Lawan as the next Senate President. Ahmed would be deputized by former Benue State governor, Geroge Akume. The people of Benue state have welcomed the development with open arms.

10. he Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has ordered the reinstatement of the deposed Ter Nagi, Chief Daniel Abomtse, to his position as the substantive Ter Nagi with all benefits.

Chief Abomtse was infamously deposed by the former governor, Gabriel Suswam following allegations of gross misconduct, embezzlement of subordinates salaries, unauthorised press releases and complacency during the Fulani crisis.
